ConCave - 3D Printed Home
Austin, Texas | ConCave, 3D Printed Home
ConCave is a 3D-printed townhome prototype developed through ICON’s Initiative 99 global design competition, which challenged teams worldwide to reimagine affordable housing through large-scale additive manufacturing. The project was led by Tara Bisharat (B.Arch, M.S. Space Architecture, OAA - Principal Architect) alongside the broader Local AR team, with contributions from designers, BIM specialists, and film producers working together on constructibility, cost, and architectural expression.
Phase 1 earned ConCave an honorable mention in the global competition for its approach to affordability, livability, and architectural quality. Phase 2 advanced the design into a built set of 3D-printed tiny townhomes at Community First! Village in Austin, Texas, where the completed homes support the Village’s community-integration model for formerly homeless residents.
ConCave is also published on ICON’s Codex Platform, where it is available for direct order and on-site 3D printing.
