Houston, Texas | NANOS ST Office Laboratory

Local AR partnered with NANOS ST, a materials science company focused on nanotechnology research and chemical applications across industries such as oil & gas and construction. Led by renowned geochemist Jose Guzman, the laboratory was envisioned as a compact but highly functional environment where chemists can create and study novel additives and materials that suspend particles in fluids for specialized outcomes.

The new office laboratory was designed and built to accommodate one to two users in adjacent private offices. Input from the scientists guided the layout, ensuring the space could support specialized equipment and a small-scale microscope while maintaining ergonomic mobility and comfort in a reduced footprint. As with all Local AR projects, ADA accessibility was integrated into the design from the outset.

To bring the space to life, Local AR collaborated with a commercial millwork company to rapidly deliver custom cabinetry and durable countertops. Epoxy flooring was selected to provide a safe, high-traction surface suitable for laboratory work. With construction complete and equipment now being installed, the laboratory is ready to support cutting-edge research and innovation.
